We had our first meeting of our new teen advisory board last night! Nine teens got together to eat Doritos and Peeps and talk about the library. They gave me suggestions for books to buy (more series! more graphic novels!) and we planned a book club. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, April 28 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. We’re going to be reading Scott Westerfeld’s novel “Uglies.”
Here’s a summary from the author’s website:
“It’s about a world in which everyone has an operation when they turn sixteen, making them supermodel beautiful. Big eyes, full lips, no one fat or skinny. This seems like a good thing, but it’s not. Especially if you’re one of the uglies, a bunch of radical teens who’ve decided they want to keep their own faces. (How anti-social of them.)”
We have about a month and a half to read it, so get set and go!
