We’ve had a couple requests lately for books on Wicca and witchcraft, so I ordered two new books on the subject for the teen area. Stop by the information desk and let me know if you’re interested in one of them!

Solitary Witch: The Ultimate Book of Shadows for the New Generation
by Silver RavenWolf

solitarywitchCall number: Y.A. 133.43 RAV.

This is a hefty book, weighing in at 608 pages! It is a compendium of ancient and modern Wiccan ideas and teachings, including a magickal cookbook, encyclopedia, dictionary, and grimoire. It relates specifically to today’s young adults and their concerns, yet is grounded in the magickal work of centuries past. Information is arranged alphabetically and divided into five distinct categories: (1) Shadows of Religion and Mystery, (2) Shadows of Objects, (3) Shadows of Expertise and Proficiency, (4) Shadows of Magick and Enchantment, and (5) Shadows of Daily Life. It is organized so readers can skip over the parts they already know, or read each section in alphabetical order.

Elements of Witchcraft: Natural Magick for Teens
by Ellen Dugan

elementsofwitchcraftCall number: Y.A. 133.4 DUG.

Study and work with the four elements of earth, air, fire, and water and learn many different forms of real magick, including crystal, herb, stone, color, and candle magick. It might not be as flashy as the movies make it seem, but real Witches work magick every day-the magick of the natural world, the magick of the Craft, and especially the magick of the heart and mind.

  1. Ugh, why in the world did you pick Silver RavenWolf, she’s a misinforming bigot who’s got nothing better to do than make Wicca look like a cult for Christian haters. I suggest something by a legit author. Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner, by Scott Cunningham is a wonderful source of information on Wicca.

If anyone wishing to know a little about Paganism, witchcraft, or Wicca, I can answer some questions for you.

    Or Katsumi Aki on gaiaonline.com

Don’t contact me if you’re just going to discuss RavenWolf, I’m not going to waste my time with anyone who won’t listen to reason.
